let's get these teen hearts beating faster faster [29 Jul 2006|12:37am]
i love hearing people's heartbeats. there's something wierdly intimate yet... not about it. it reaches beyond the pure sexual nature of being that close to somebody. it's listening to their life... their soul.

the bliss of lying on a bed, just listening to your love's heart beat.

i want that again. i miss that. random heart beats just arn't the same, nice as they are. every heart has something to offer. (dear god did i just type that. yes i did. i'm keeping it).

i used to love to lay on my mother's stomach, just listening to the thump of her heart. i used to love laying in the king sized bed on a rainy afternoon listening to a different heart beat under smooth skin. i can't wait for the next.....

so all day today i was dead. cause i got under 7 hours of sleep last night. i almost fell asleep at the dinner table. but now i'm freaking wired. actually, i was about to type that i had no idea why i was like this... when i realized that wait, i DO know why.

thus this entry is pointless.

no work tomorrow. yay!

the world cup started today. and i'm stoked. the first two games were pretty sweet. i mean clearly germany was going to beat costa rica, but 4-2 makes it a pretty exciting game, moreso then i expected. and then equador beating poland 2- nil? beautiful. i want to party with the equadorians. it was exciting. especially those two polish shots that went off the posts. a glimer of hope dashed on the turf.

trinidad and tobago plays sweden tomorrow. that'll be fun to watch with da swede. woot. sweden.

never get a plum icy from tapioca express. brian ching/the boy who has everything got one today and let me tell you, it is foul. like completely undrinkable. and that's why you should always go for lemon. it's sure to be a winner.

i think it's bad that i'm already burned out working and i've only worked 5 days so far. walking away thinking "i need a stiff drink" really isn't the way i want to end days. but oh well, it's not hard, just mind numbing. and i'm getting paid to lay by a pool, so i really can't complain.

i move in the 17th of august. bring it on.

Summer Time in the City [02 Jun 2006|01:28am]
[ mood | thoughtful ]

It's summer in houston once again. And although last summer i updated this thing like crazy i really don't see myself updating that often... since i haven't updated in months. oh well. i ljed for quite a long time. actually some of my protected posts are quite astonishing to go back and read... meh. s'all good. i was a very different person even a year ago, let alone the end of freshman year.

right. summer. i want to do things. i only work like 3 days a week so i have plenty of free time. well, actually working is mostly free time as well since i sit around all day. being a nanny for an 11 year old and a 13 year old is quite easy. yesterday i read half a book and went ice-skating, while today i read the second half of the book and lazed by a pool. reeeeeeeeeal strenuous work, let me tell you. boring, but i'm making a good chunk of money that i'm sure will come in handy next year so i'm not complaining. and i totally got the job because of god, which i find pretty sweet. i was interviewing for the job when i noticed on the family's planner "hfbc camp". so i immediately ask if they go to First Baptist, which they do. once i was like, SO DO I, i knew there was no way in hell i wasn't getting that job. we talked about the previous week's sermon for chrissake. so yea, going to church all of these years finally payed off. thanks mom! at least something productive (other then eternal salvation? pish) came out of 18 years of religion.

in a related note, angela's ashes is a really good book. i recommend it. kinda sad but also funny in a slightly depressing way. and the entire book is made even more touching by the fact that it is a memoir. it won a pulitzer prize... it definitely deserved it.

so here is my list of things to do this month:
Astros Game
Schlitterbahn in Galveston (or in New Branfuls for that matter. But i haven't been to the Galveston one yet)
Dynamo Game
Vans Warped Tour
watch a crapload of the World Cup

now i just need people to do these things with me. well, the world cup will just be on my tv constantly. yay for soccer coverage on basic cable! bring it on.

'ello june.

This is scarily accurate... [29 Mar 2006|08:53pm]
Rules of Houston...

1. You must learn to pronounce the city name. It is "Huestun," not "Ewe-stun". Oh yea, it is pronounced "San Phil-ee-pay," not "San Phil-eep" (San Felipe). Enunciate, you idiots!

2. Forget the traffic rules you learned elsewhere. Houston has its own version of traffic rules...Hold on and pray. There is no such thing as a dangerous high-speed chase in Houston. We all drive like that.

3. All directions start with, "Go down to Loop 610".... which has no beginning and no end.

4. The Chamber of Commerce calls getting through traffic... a "Scenic Drive."

5. The morning rush hour is from 6:00AM to 10:00AM. The evening rush hour is from 3:00PM to 7:00PM. Friday's rush hour starts Thursday morning.

6. If you actually stop at a yellow light, you will be rear-ended, cussed out and possibly shot. When you are the first one off the starting line, count to five when the light turns green before going, to avoid getting into any cross-traffic's way.

7. Kuykendahl Road can ONLY be pronounced by a native Houstonian.

8. Construction on I-10, I-45, US 59 and Loop 610 is a way of life and a permanent form of entertainment.

9. All unexplained smells are explained by the phrases, "Oh, we must be in Pasadena!" or "God, I hate Baytown!" or "Mmm, smell that Texas City!"

10. If someone actually has their turn signal on, it is probably a factory defect.

11. All old ladies with blue hair in a pink Cadillac have total right-of-way.

12. The minimum acceptable speed on Loop 610 is 85 mph. Anything less is considered downright sissy.

13. The wrought iron on windows in east Houston is NOT ornamental.

14. Never stare at the driver of the car with the bumper sticker that says, "Keep honking, I'm reloading." In fact, don't honk at anyone.

15. If you are in the left lane, and only going 70 mph in a 60 mph zone, people are not waving when they go by.

16. The Sam Houston Toll road is our daily version of NASCAR.

17. If it's 100 degrees, Thanksgiving must be next weekend.

18. When in doubt, remember that all unmarked exits lead to Louisiana.

22. If you live in Katy and I live on the south side of Houston we'll never hang out.

23. The best thing about being drunk between 2-5 am is Whataburger will serve both breakfest and normal menus.

24. You are always able to be pulled over by any police vehicle, even if you were just given a ticket.

25. You don't have to wait for an exit to get off a freeway, just follow the ruts in the grass to the feeder like everyone else. This is how Houston residents notify Texas Department of Transportation where exits should have been built.

It's wintertime? [27 Dec 2005|04:04pm]
[ mood | calm ]

So it's christmas break. pretty sweet. except for the whole ability to wear skirts thing. call me traditional, but i'm a firm beliver in coats on christmas. the break so far has been pretty much routine. laze around all day, napping and watching tv, then hanging out in the evening. fun, but not exactly thrilling all the time. i did run today, which made me dread the coming track season since i am horribly out of shape. luckily i bounce back pretty easily so i should be back in decent shape pretty soon if i keep at it.

I really need a hobby. I've decided that days going by where i accomplish absolutly nothing are not so good. The problem is i can't really think of anything to take up. And so the story of my life continues... however, because of this lack of pastimes, i changed my layout! i think it's pretty sweet, especially since my old picture left, never to return.

elaine's over. she's my brother's girlfriend. i acutally like her a lot. they've been dating for like all of college so it's pretty intense. plus it's been long distance the entire relationship. i really don't know how it's lasted. i think that it's significant though that they're both content with my brother playing a computer game while she reads a book he reocommended, with occasional conversation.

i like cheese. (courtesy of hannah edlund)

2006 is going to be quite a year.

you know that you've gotten your money's worth when espn calls the game you attended perhaps one of the greatest baseball games ever. that's right. i was at minute maid park from 11:30 to 7. that means 7.5 hours. that's a long assssssssss time. but, since jessie is amazing, we sat in tottally SWEET seats. but really the highlight of the experience came after the game was over. i mean, the whole acutal phyical exaustion from cheering was pretty cool also.. but not my favorite moment. my favorite moment was when i was walking under the stadium and passed brad asumus. i proceeded to go "nice game" to the guy who hit a 2-out bottom of the 9th homer to tie the game. p.i.m.p. and i got to see like ensburg, lamb, pettite, oswalt, chavez and burke (the rookie who ended the game with a bottom of the 18th homer. you also know you got your money's worth when you see 18 innings, or 2 whole games. and TWO grand slams. pretty cool since i had never seen one before.

all in all, the most adrenaline/up and down day emotionally of my life. or, as the guy from Katy Taylor put it, "hellagood".

crusing down rutgers side by side blasting rap music also contributed to teh awesomeness of my day.

in conclusion, the astros are pimp.
